ABOUT
I sometimes think of my life like chapters in a book or many lifetimes rolled into one.
So many chapters ago, I was raised in the Midwest, where I began drawing and painting as early as I can remember. My dad was my first art teacher, and because of him, I grew up with a deep love and passion for art. After receiving my BA from Indiana University, I spent a summer studying fine art in Florence, Italy. This is one of my all-time favorite experiences. That time deepened my love of painting and of simply observing the beauty of the world around me.
After college, I moved to Los Angeles, where I worked as a set decorator in film before moving into corporate graphic design. Over the years, painting was always quietly woven through the chapters. I continued taking painting courses throughout my life, studying oil painting at the Pasadena School of Design and exploring acrylic, watercolor, and gouache. I love discovering the unique language and possibilities of each medium.
After many years on the West Coast, I moved back to Chicago and continued my career in graphic design. Today, living in New England, painting has become an especially meaningful part of my creative life.
My background in graphic design naturally finds its way into my work through composition, color, balance, and the way I see an image as a whole. But painting is where I get to slow down, explore, experiment, and simply make art.
I feel incredibly blessed to share my art with you. I’m grateful you’re here, and I hope you find something that speaks to you.
